Anyway I think the red 8 and red1 share the same PCB..

All Ok, now is all visible.
Wow, Phillips NE5534. Are those still available?
Yep, that caught my eye too. They're gone, I'm afraid.

So they share the same PCB as the 4 channel??? Do tell do tell!!!!

I own a RED 8 here and love it. The possiblity of getting 2 more
channels out of it sounds quite interesting.

Any other RED 8 users interested in starting up a project for this?

I don't think it looks that difficult. The only bugger is that most of the PCB holes have been soldered closed, but these wouldn't be difficult to de-solder, and you'd have to drill some chassis / front plate holes.

There's no hard wiring as such, so if someone can list components and values then you should be on your way.

And for reference, you have two channels to compare to!

Having said that, I'd maybe want to leave it alone and build something from scratch.

The Front panel of the RED 8 is so beautiful I would think it would be just
easier to add some ribbon cables for the Pots and Meters and
run that to say a one space empty rack chassis. You could also do the same for the XLR's in and outs, which would leave the
original RED 8 faceplate untouched.
I just wonder what the level of this would be as to warrant actually
doing this, versus buying it again.
It does seem interesting though if it could be done.

I would love to see some pics of someone drilling extra holes in his red frontpanel  :thumb:

Ahh, but Todd does have an excellent idea which I would never have thought of:
