Hi,

I've plan to build a "kind" of LA-2, for this I need a T4 module... :green:

After some very interesting threads on Ppro, I've decided at first to build a "kind" of T4-ish.Now,after some very interesting threads.....I've found the LDR NSL 5910 Silonex, and I need to find the MAGIC E.L PANEL :green: .

After some research, on net there's the LSI corp. where we can find The EL Panel But last night I've found on the Conrad Website an EL panel that's seems very interesting Code number:184123-62 an a transformer for using it with low voltage 5VDC to 110VAC Code number:184005-62.

well, may be thoses parts could be interesting for building a "kind" of T4-ish because it's cheap :thumb:

Regards,b2.

Someone needs to organize a group buy from LSI.

This will take some $$$.
At close to $30 ea and $100 minimum, you invest $120 and you only get four panels.
Prices do not drop much with quanity.

But if you guys want to do a real LA2, you need one of these to find it's way into your mailbox.
Accept no substitutes.
The sound when compressing depends on the the T4 module.

so cj, it's just the ldr's that need to be tested and matched?

that is, are these lsi panels consistent, and if I were to buy 4, would I have 4 useable ones?

as opposed to the silonex parts, which I should order many of for matching/testing.....

just wondering a bit about this, I'd like to build some by springtime.

a group buy would be a good idea, but would it only be useful if we got 100 people?

still 22/piece at 100 qty?

have read your t5 page a bunch of times cj, but just read it again and after 6 months or so, it's a lot simpler than I thought..... going to have to get into it on these for sure ;]

Hi,

Thank's for reply, your right on the way that's if I want a real LA-2 ,I do need and by a T4 from JBLand ,UA or somewhere else. :green:

In Europe, it's very hard to get this part..yes ,may be with 100 -120 Euros- I can buy one .

So,that's the main reason I'm gone to try build a "kind" of T4-ish,with some pair of LRD on ,to see.

But if T4 from JBLand,UA or "nices" substitute come on for a good deal why not :thumb:

regards,b2.

In Europe, inquiries for all of LSI's products should be directed to our sales office in Belgium:

hey , i have a spare that i would sell you for the cost of it .

retardedly it's 30$

ive been making the move to buy hundreds of these things.
but they don't negotiate at all.

even at 500 the price moves only one dollar .

so thats 13500$ bucks.

silonex replacement for the clairex CL5M5L is the nsl 5910.

UA has a custom replacement made by them , wich is

NSL 02-036-0129

silonex will not relase this for it belongs to UA.

i just bought a data logger and am installing LABview
and will review it's characteristics.

the Urei T4b uses a NSL 02 016 9505 wich im sure
they wont release the data on that either.

the main problemo is that the photo cells really are not consitant with
eachother , one is for metering and the other is for compression.

so they have to match , but even more important is that the photocell
for compression is of LA-2a attack and release curve quality.

CJs test rig is a really great way to test them and match them up .

but it will take some quantity of LDRs because it takes a few to find
a perfect match ,

come to think of it , whats the deal with the matching resistor
that comes with the urei T4b , it allways seems to be 33k ?

ps. if you need some one to buy a t4b from jbls tent sell ,
i would be happy to act as a inbetween for you .

Yes, every batch that comes in is different.
And as they age, they change a bit.

The UA part is just a pre tested 5910.

We have inside info on that.

And it wasn't me diggin thru the UA garbage can.

If you buy 100 cells, you might get 10 really good T4's.
If you buy 100 cells, you might get 10 really good T4's.
and that is such an important point for the LA2 and many other classic units

so many LA2s out there and they could all be different
old units, new pro units and the diy units

the T4 is the centre of the LA2 and could be 95% of the sound

gets me thinking ,

perhaps it would be better to have custom ldrs manufactured
under the specifications that the urei PDF states ,

i know this idea is gonna set me back 20k , lol .

i would imagine that a light panel just the same could be
MFg by the folks that make the el panels fo night lights in china .

(i know im going to hell for thinking that)

but 30 bucks is a little excessive .

ill have to say that the 86$ at jbl is hard to beat ,

for all the trouble.

I don't see them listed anymore, though maybe it's just a temporary JBL website glitch.
