PLEASE HELP.

I'm calibrating my new Neve 1272 mic pre with a .5vPP 1k test tone.

It's very strange but I can hear the tone in the chassis

I can't tell which part of the circuit it's coming from... Power supply, OT, I don't know. It changes volume when I do.

Is this right ?
& if not, what could it be?
How can I fix it?

Thanks,
Kevin

[quote author="mik"]that's the in/out trafo, they usually talk,

Really? Wow, never heard that before.

The more I listened it sounded like the OT.
Does this just happen to the Neve trannys or others too?

Thank You,
Kevin

generally it happens more or less in every trasformer coupled amp, I guest, But in same cases it shold be a sympton of a "not so well behaviour " do you have grounded it right ? I mean linking the coil screen on ground path.

if you test outcome right don't warry about it.

I've only heard it when putting in very loud tones, or with lots and lots of gain producing a very high output. With typical use I don't hear it.

That's why they wind those things so tight. It;s not the lams, they don't do much past 1 K.
So that leaves....the'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''output caps, but there arebn't any, so that leaves the...................XFMR..................

...........

Windings.

I knew as soon as people started talkin bout the cool varnish smell thatn they din't pt enough fixer in the tank.

No wait, fixer is Kodak land, right?

Out the arse as uz-u-Al.
