Well ..............when putting something together [ at least for me ] make
sure you have ALL the parts , mark holes to drill with parts in place , then make ALL harnneses & wiring then check parts postions WITH wires
There were a few Oops in this one , never as clean in the end when one
has had enough and i didn't even the get the 2nd set of outpur xfmrs in there , not that they need them at all
The faceplate was made by dtt , who comes around here every now & then

I'll add some notes to the G.R. pcb thread , regards Greg

Saweeet! Nice one Greg! I like to see the courageous quad units, however it looks like it was too noisy with the pwr xfmr in there.

OK, now I really want my own 4!

Greg, what a beautiiful job!

Do you hear anything better with the output xfr? Is it worth it?

I can't wait for the boards.

jim

Yep , it's a buffet of transformer goodness

I thought it'd be better to make a quad for more compact remotes and
working at other places , but it's almost 6 of 1 , half a doz of another
because it gets pretty heavy for a 1RU , less realestate though .

At first listen the xfmr output almost seemed not as bright as the
Cinemag input only , but that is comparing different inputs and i have
a mild buzz issue to work out in the first two channels with the xfmr out .
[ grounding i think , the 3/4 channel are dead quiet , you can see a
spot on the back pannel that i had left for a couple of outputs ] just finished it tonight .
I didn't even consider putting the power xfmr in
there , no space anyway .
Otherwise i have been perfectly happy using the first dual unit
that has Lundahl ins only , for classical & pop , i put it right up there with
the Millenia .

I seem to prefer outputs with transformer but it gets expensive when you make 4 pres.

Can you leave the output trannies out and put them in later without any mods or are there parts to add or remove?

I'll be cramming 4 of them in a 3 RU case so I should have room for everything.

I've been looking for pres to build for my next projects and seeing yours just sealed it for me!

jim

Although i think it may only be a resister or two difference , the card
has separate outputs for xfmr in & unbalenced , so yeah easy to add
the output transformer later , if you really want .

Two rackspace should be enough , 3 ???? you can add eqs or meters
or

should be good !

I'll start with no output transformers first then.

I have a bunch of 3RU cases so I am putting everything in there.

I also have a lot of VU meters and I may include them as well (they need to work instead of sitting in a box!).

Are you sure you are still looking for some SuperGreens ... ?

Just joking, very nice work !

Also high on my list, but projects are piling up ... no time to finish something. In the next 3 weeks I can only dream of doing a thing.

Very interested in some samples (classical live would be nice).

Again :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Cheers,

Mike

I'm curious to compare the green against the supergreen , but that was my quest for most millenia like in a non transformer preamp .
soon i'll have enough of the single doa type , and all they seem from
the same family & flavor , everything is better in pairs but then figure
enough to do a drum kit , then from 8 to 16 [ not there yet ] unless
you can get off the train but then it's catch up with the comps & eqs
and then you die , hah !

I have a little chamber gig next week for the quad , the dual is going to
a friend who bought the boards , where is the best / easiest place to host files ? i asked before but no good answers .

anyway remember two of everything ..............................at least

regards Greg
