Wanna more?

veRRRy nice indeed.
how long did it take you to build it?
did you design it yourself?
and most important thing:
how does it sound like?

Best,
Mattia.

holy guacamole

Thats very nice. I'm looking to do the same, a small console in a 16 channel version that is inline.

Very nice. YOu must tells us about it. It's story time around here

I like the sign in the background of the second picture:
"I'm not disorganized, just flexible"

And the mixer, too... of course. Fantastic work!

More details, please...

how long did it take you to build it?

Nu...Actually, we (me and Aran La-Vi)
started to buy all possible junk about 3 years before,
the primary idea was high quality summing box with quad eight opamps
(which we have a lot at this time) then it grew up to my own design
high current opamps, very fast, clean and nice distortion signature
when loaded hard, see:
opamp under test:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/IJR/cons_10.jpg
load 82 ohm, +20db/1k, note 2nd harmonic is about 30 db higher
than 3rd and nuffingmore
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/IJR/cons_11.jpg
load 600 ohm, +20db/1k:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/IJR/cons_12.jpg
btw, this is residual of analyzer, they actually cleaner....
soundwise, reminds Forssell's new ones(very love them too btv!)
then, tried about 10 designd of eq, till stopped on Sontec;
then, Sontec MEP250 was re---re--re...till it came upto
Masaboog's low, Sontec 2 mids and godnowwwhat high,
(GOOD!!!! AIR-no harsh at all!!!! ;))))
used opamps in filters opa2604, they fast and very good
sounding there, btw, tried 275's, 627 etc, goal of 2604 is
+/-24 v capability and SOUND, here it is best for me...5532/4 sounds bit junky there.
Then, routing stuff and ground mess....
Auxes were done 1/2-3/4 , both pre-post fader, mix b with panning,
pre-post as well, relays from Neumann console/EAO buttons, 3M
tapemachine inputtrunny's for each channel, 10hz-60k clean and huge
sound, compensated 3rd harmonic of trunny's with input Albatross stage
(SE design, mine own stuff, same 2nd harmonic signature when loaded very hard),
P&G faders, again, my own high current opamps for fader
buuuusters, 4 layer pcb, Alphastat pots....Elma knobs, polypropy and
silver mica...allmost all, oops,
soya sauce and some good shrimps and caviar, did I forget somthng????

did you design it yourself?
Can you design something new in this world???
Just connected some things together with some
touch of Dao/Zen....that's all;))))

and most important thing:
how does it sound like?

HUHHH!!!! Guys who common to SSL9000 and Amek's are sick evil;))))

I have about 10-15 phone calls a day from people who heard console
at Aran's studio, they DROOLING and no-one had bad opinion....
for alloff'em sound is huge, clean, punchy blabla....
I like it very much. To describe sound, you have to listen. Then,
I don't like this punchy talks, come and listen-is the best.
First, very clean monitoring- I used my master console there, and it is
allthru passive, relays and MF res' for att's...
Sound of 16-channel mix is HUGE, clean and punchy,
we used 2 bus design, one is passive with Albatross and my own wound
trunny's at input, now terminated down for 36 channels
(stereo channels/fx retns coming soon),
and active bus is fast airy and clean.
We using now 16-channel summing (my MX-1) as stereo channels
connected direct to active bus. Passive bus is used as subgroup, drums
etc, but by one only knob is possible to reverse all channels from A>>P
and back.
YOu must tells us about it. It's story time around here

OK;))))

Time is my main factor...will try!

4 band fully paramtric EQ + HPF + LPF + 4 Aux?
Here's detailed pic of channel:

Summing Master:
cons_4.jpg

Thanks JLM for his servo hybrid idea, used on aux/mix b/ pfl!

The guy has build a mixer!! Speechless

Actually, me and Sergey-he helped to solder pcb's,
God bless his patience!!!!

More details, please...
Ask!

Ahh...I see, so you scavanged those Neumann switchboxes for relays and switches. I have some of those laying around from which I'll only use the switches so if you need some more relays.....pay shipping and they're yours....

> Just connected some things together ..

Just imagine what could be achieved if you *really* tried!

Another wonder from Igor's "Institute of Audio Engineering and Zen"

Bravo!

I predict (putting my psychic hat on) that Igor's mixer will become legendary and he will end up building quite a few over the next ten years or so, and will go down in mixer history.

Stunned by your efforts Igor!

(And "four layer pcb" ??? Next you'll have holographic labelling or 3D controls where the user wears LCD glasses to operate the console)

Thanx. All this is just matter of time. Next mixer...not sure, but digitally controlled analog,
fully recall-able mastering console-yes. (at this time, matter of some hundereds of relays :)
