I ( strangely ) have the output tx for a C12VR floating around.
It seems to have 2x input windings and 2x output windings but I
can't seem to find any data on it.
Any suggestions as to how I can connect it up
would be greatly received.

Thanks

Giles

Hi Giles
What kind of transformer use VR? Any number or specification.
Is´nt T14/1?

The schem says u66.
Sorry, not very helpful.
I guess i could measure the sections but not too sure
how to do this to give me the answers I need.
Seems a waste not to use it though.

Marik can help you with this. Why would you want to use that transformer sell it to some sucker on ebay and get a real transformer.

Hmmm!

Not a bad idea at all!
I take it then that this is pretty crap?
It was free though so anything I make on ebay
can go directly to a nice one.

Thanks

Does anyone test a C12VR capsule?
What transformer? T14/1 or another?

The transformer in the C12VR is a newer design, not the T14/1 and the
capsule is the one used in Jakob's original G7.
I have one of these floating around too.

I have been told it is not that good. I had a solid tube once for a short time did not like it. I was told it uses the same transformer as the c12vr.

Maybe it is OK I realy don't know for sure. The primary and secondary winding are often wired for 200 ohm out that would be the secondary in series for 200ohm, if in || the output would be 50 ohms. Do you know how to test the Ratio if it is 6:1 or greater it might be OK.

Look at solid tube schematic at Jakob's site and see if it is the same.

Solidtube uses transformer after cathode follower.
Then it can have lower ratio because of 1/gm output resistance, which see.
it can be really 1:1.

Simply measure primary winding inductance (Lp), primary winding resistance (Rp) of connected transformer.
and secondary ones (Ls, and Rs).
Then Lp*Rs may be nearly equal to Ls*Rp. If it is, transformer is connected in a good way.
If I remember, some series of AKG s uses transformers on L
core made from Carpenter mumetal. relative permeability of it is
22 000. I have measured some samples of it. Nice core...

I have read the AKG The Tube uses a CF stage. I have also read the c12vr is the same circuit as The Tube.

Has anyone been inside The Tube or c12Vr? If so could you post If the above is true.

The c12 use 1/2 of the 6072 tube

I wonder if the nady tcm1050 is based off another microphone

The transformer in C12VR and Solidtube is the same. I saw in the spare parts catalog for both microphones. Somewhere I have schematic of C12VR and it is very different than original C12. Probably the main difference is that that C12VR utilize the both halfs of the tube and C12 not.
