Here are a few pictures I took of microphones at the AES show.
Picture quality varies. I think some of these companies have camera jammers that make it hard to get a good shot!
A few of these mics I do not even remember the company name of.

you can tell the company by the file name. too lazy to write photo descriptions.

The capsule membrane is so thin, and the sputtering so light that you can actually see the holes drilled in the backplate!
The screen is made out of stainless steel to prevent flying drum stick trauma, etc.:

Thanks CJ! (I've been saying that a lot lately!)

BTW, anyone know the story on the AT4047 capsule? I've never seen anything like that before...

I really like how AT had all there LDC mics open so you could really see what the difference is. I always get confused since they all look similar and their all have names like 4520, 2045, 4250...

Is it a mic, an IC, and address? I like when people use easy to remember names like u47, SM57, C414, where there is some sort of rhyme and reason to the names.

Hurt or lucky?
I missed a lot of people. Mr. Neve was walking around somewhere but we were always on opposite sides of the building.

thanks Chris some that are marked unknow look like pearl and/or milab.

The Pearl tube-mic uses a Nuvistor of all things! Anyone heard one? What kind of Nuvistor I wonder? I'd expect it to perform well as Frazer Jones distributes them for the US and he's rather selective about what he takes on.

Justin

has anyone heard any of those pearl mics? My brother told me about them a while ago and I cant find anyone that has any real experience with them.

The 4047 capsule looks like a large version of a 4033 - they like the extra 'ring' with holes in there for some reason. I was debating trying to fill them and see if it affects the sound on my 4033. AT's mics appear to have different capsules than most mics out there. Great pictures CJ!

CM51 looks like kind of what AT is doing with a electric 2 micrion 20mm capsule. I have two 4033s the capsules are not bad, the electronics need to be removed and replaced.

Nice one CJ!

Is the small silver AEA mic next to the R84, the new R92? I'm curious as its supposedly cheaper than the R84 - which was already not that expensive!!!

Cheers Tom
