Hi there,

I am looking for a parametic EQ.
I'd like to set Q-level (bandwith) on my own.

The EQ should have some "grip" (I don't know what's the correct translation, but you should feel, what it is doing!).

On this board, I found these ones:
CAPS EQ (http://users.pandora.be/Rogy/IEMFinalizer/CAPS EQ)
Net EQ (http://www.wavefront.mcmail.com/neteq.pdf)

I don't know anything about them ... can anybody help me?

I've already found these things:
1. Symetrix 551E Five Band Parametric EQ
http://www.symetrixaudio.com/tech_support/schematics/55xE-1A00.pdf
Low Cut: 6 - 260 Hz
High Cut: 3000 - 65000 Hz

Frequency: 100 - 2000 Hz (x0.1, x10, x1)
Bandwith: 0.05 - 2.0 Octaves
Level: -20 - +12 dB

2. RANE PE17
http://www.rane.com/pdf/pe17sch.pdf

Low Cut: 10 - 250 Hz
High Cut: 3000 - 40000 Hz

Frequency: 100 - 2000 Hz (x0.1, x10, x1)
Bandwith: 0.03 - 2.0 Octaves
Level: -15 - +12 dB

Funny, seems like Symetrix & Rane did some teamwork

3. Behringer ULTRA-Q PRO PEQ2200
... no schematics here ...
Low Cut: 10 - 400 Hz
High Cut: 2500 - 30000 Hz

Frequncy: 20 - 400 Hz
Bandwith: 0.03 - 2 Octaves
Level: -15 - +15 dB

Frequency: 60 - 1000 Hz
Bandwith: 0.03 - 2 Octaves
Level: -15 - +15 dB

Frequency: 150 - 2500 Hz
Bandwith: 0.03 - 2 Octaves
Level: -15 - +15 dB

Frequency: 500 - 8000 Hz
Bandwith: 0.03 - 2 Octaves
Level: -15 - +15 dB

Frequency: 1000 - 20000 Hz
Bandwith: 0.03 - 2 Octaves
Level: -15 - +15 dB

Okay, the Behringer seems interesting ... 54 EUR only.
BUT: Pro-Series, SMD and 4560/4580 OPAs :-(

What do you suggest?

Best,
Tobias

Steffen,
you want to "build" or "buy" an eq?
If there are schematics or projects of a good machine, I would like to BUILD it.
But if there are no good things available, I'll have to buy it :-(

btw: Are you Steffen from Viersen, NRW, Germany?
If yes: I'll be in Essen tomorrow for All-You-Can-Eat @ PizzaHut(tm).

Tobias, this is sontec EQ:
Hi there,
The EQ should have some "grip"
I read this information in an interesting pdf@fabios site:
"The first impression upon comparing a 250EX to other equalizer is that the Sontec isn't doing anything. More listening gives the impressions that the EQ is taking place...."
The Sontec sounds very good for me, but i can't say it has "grip". The calrec eq has much "grip".
You won't get cheaper with a sontec than a behringer and I would not recommend the sontec for your live music purposes to adjust your speaker system. (try the ultradrive DCX2496 stuff)
Just my opinions.

just curious, what's the price of DIY sontecs in components?
or Calreq's in case someone has made the calculations already?

Cheers,

Tony

my version is around 530,- euro

I broke down and bought one for around $1200 on ebay. I have the 250ex, so if anyone needs specific info for this unit, I can probably check out the insides for you.

There is a very nice design from Mr Barry Porter on the net , the file name is neteg-1072.zip

There is everything in , pcb , schemo and comment of how many dB's up/down you want to go.
Also the input and output are very nice in design , so have a look on this file.

maybe I could
would have been nice to be able to ask permission though ...
still I'll hide it in my site if it's not too big and only link to here

wadda ya think Dave ?

everyone say thank you to Dave
and
Mr. Porter.
