5719 tube in a royer MXL mod.... interesting

I just came from a friends place where he and a buddy modded an MXL2001 like the royer, but used a 5719 mini tube instead. The mod looked cool.

They etched a little disc shaped pcb and used molex style connectors to attach to the Jensen trafo and the capsule.

I thought this was cool, as they were swappong out their 5719 version of the mod with the royer one. They seem to like the 5719 better.

I'll have to get pics of what they did.

They did the royer first and then went off on their own. I'll email him for some pics.

Any more information on this? It would be nice to see it.

Any comments as to what the difference is sonically?
