Anyone found the mk47 power transformer in Australia?
« on: August 04, 2012, 01:50:28 AM »
Hi guys!
Just a shout to see if anyone in Australia has found the mk47 mic projects power supply transformer locally?
I have found it in Europe http://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/product_info.php/info/p2192_Ringkern-Netztrafo-30VA-Preamp.html
But I'm wondering if there is a more local solution for people in Australia?
Thanks
G

Just get a 230v torriodal from element 14, you will need to increase the resistor following the caps to about 1.5k but will work perfectly well to get you the 105v you need.

Thanks Gilgamesh!
Now I'm not super good with this, I have had many looks on element14 and can't find anything suitable, for instance a secondary of 200v isn't available in my searches let alone 30va, but I find power a little confusing alot of the time, particularly the headroom va etc!
Thanks so much for your response!

I used this one:

http://au.element14.com/triad-magnetics/vpt230-110/toroidal-power-transformer/dp/1785731

It doesn't have the 6.3v secondary like the tube town one but that's just if you want to use a jewell lamp you don't need it for the actual mic operation.

No problems, it is a great project have fun. I would recommend reading as much of the build thread as you can before starting, particulary with regard to building the power supply. The instructions for the mic itself are very comprehensively detailed by ioaudio at the start of the thread.

my PSU build uses this Triad 230V toroid.

Changed the voltage trimmer pot to 1K and the option 330R or 680R resistor to 1K.  Trimmed to 105V without problems.
