This cut/boost structure -

- explained in detail by Dennis Bohn (Rane), and used most famously (‘round here) as the backbone for the Barry Porter NetEQ, came originally (maybe) from a patent filed by Kenneth Gundry for Dolby in the early 1970s. Granted in 1976 as GB1452920A.

I can’t find the actual PDF, just the abstract, and this:
