Worthless! Why waste your time with that crap! Incenrate it all right now...

Wow amazing...what great history pieces! Makes me think of all the great stuff that hasn't been saved from the landfill.

Bet those sound awesome.

Good score - certainly not nil points!  ;)

Skips and dumpsters rule - got a working scope one time and still use it!

Nice grab Gary! Kinda like a little lottery win  :) A shame to think this would have ended up in a land fill somewhere.

I need to start hanging around landfill sites more! That is a lucky find

Any one have any experience with orphan audio? I've been trying to get a quad eight coronado manual from them for about a year, but they dont seem to like replying to emails...

Update....

Ken at Orphan wrote me a very nice email about these goodies.
He says that these are parts of a custom Sphere Eclipse-B console.

The cards are as follows:

22193 Module: Eclipse-B Program/Cue (mix/aux) module. Uses SPA-62 amp cards.
22190 Module: Cue/Solo master. (can be modified for Stereo/CR master). Uses SPA-62 amp cards.
17363 Amp cards: These appear to be custom low noise bus summing amps.
Small amp cards: a very early version of the SPA-62  utility amp.
7393 transformers: standard Sphere high-level output transformer.
76113 transformers: Sphere special transformer. (I will inquire at the manufacturer for details)
22224 switch cards: Preamp control motherboard for M1200 preamp card.
22404 PCB: Bus output motherboard with trim.
22416 PCB: Monitor/Mixdown/Mono-sum motherboard.

Looks like maybe I got enough goodies to DIY me a small line level desk of some sort !! :) 8)

Well on to the next phase !

. . . .well, since they live quite happily in Neve and Helios modules(and I dont know what else), Id say they are alright . . .

Sure, seen them.

I should better say:
What could be the main reasons (appart from size,) for designers/manufacturers to use them sound-wise?

Cheers.

That would make sense because its often used in coupling situations.
I also think they had pretty low Tanδ compared to electrolytics back then.
