I'm about to embark on the creation of a Ribbon Mic, and its obvious that the most difficult part of the body. Its either an expensive purchase, gutting a cheap mic....(so then my mic looks cheap), or make something (I don't exactly have a machine shop handy).

So I got thinking.....there are people that make cigar box guitars, altoid case guitar amps, and other crazy musical housings.

So that inspired me to think about creative ways to make a microphone enclosure for a ribbon. Since the circuitry on a ribbon mic is extremely simple, it should lend itself to some interesting ideas.

I read about people using old CB radio mics, or brass tubes and cutting things to size.

So....care to share an idea? I'm looking for inspirations from the group. Thanks

I used a steel leg from a desk once. It was hard work cutting it!  I also did one in a brass vase, but it didn't come out very well.
