Hello All,

Thought that I would share this project that I am currently working on. Its an eight channel preamp that's Flickinger / QuadEight inspired. Still in the early design stage right now, Input TX will be a Cinemag CMQEE-3440A, I have a handful of vintage QE3442 that I am going to use as the output TX. Stepped gain and fader and output attenuator. Probably going to toss in one or two of DIYRE SB2s because why not. Amps will be dual footprint for 2520 Style DOA or Cathedral Guitars 535-7

Fusion 360 Model

I fought some huge battles with Flick....as in parts catching on fire.
I don't doubt this, but I have lots of 535 cards, mostly with original parts, and they show no signs of burning in their 50 years of existence. You can make a 535 that runs hot (I have done it myself), but the original ones I have don't even get warm. I suspect there were some QC issues along the way as the business sort of collapsed, but a well-made 535 works (and measures) very well.

Got the next chunk of the schematic captured as well as getting the large components onto the PCB. Probably going to have to make a board a bit longer to fit in the rest of it, still need to add the P48 circuitry. Received the input transformers from Cinemag yesterday which was really cool, wasn't sure how long I would have to wait on them.

Well I am calling this project done for now!

Eight channels of transformer stuffed mic preamps for Scott Montoya’s @coma_studio.

First four channels have vintage Triad transformers on the input, the next four have Cinemag QuadEight transformers, with selectable input impedances, all the output transformers are vintage QuadEight.

Two discrete opamps bases off Melcor 1731 meters are inspired by Dan Flickinger’s consoles, stepped gain, level and attenuation controls.

Oh yeah and there’s also two 16X2 summing inputs.
