Easy. Take 2 of 5mm photoresistors, 2 red 3mm LED's, some black shrink, sigarette lighter or hot air.....

BTW. Farnell links. Sure, there's same in Mouser/Digikey/Newark.

Akh! Of course! Farnell out of stock of the optocouplers too - I actually found them on their site and popped in the part numbers on Mouser, who didn't have them, then Digikey were out of stock too... Maybe I need to get that cigarette lighter out afterall!!

Ten points for the trimmer resistor, I've copied the part number and added that to my mouser cart.

Thanks again Igor,

D :)

1160 pcs available
Will work. Maybe bit low Roff...if you don't care about -60 db talkback separation to phones in off state (me almost ok with this :)....than,  fine.
Edit.
Before I go to sleep, here's the cheapest possible variant:

Than, black shrink and LED.

Hi!
I wonder if it´s possible to stack to TB_Combiner-Boards and control them with the CRM by just splitting the TB_on-Signal to both TB-Boards. Is that possible?
Thanks for any replys!
Chris

Hey Guys.... Just curious if anyone knows why is there a star on the R4 / 68k? Everything else makes perfect sense...

I'm very interested in getting one of these - this approach is very cool.

Cheers!

I usually mark TBD's with the star, here, this resistor depends on TB microphone gain. In 99% 68K is fine with any mic you can connect to PC and talk by Skype.

Every mic i put on this thing starts making a harley noise after about 15 min if i short the hot leg of the mic to ground i get regular operation right back. Any ideas?

Hi,

I'm trying to use your board in stand alone.

I'm powering it with a 12V stabilized supply.

The audio pass-thru without issue.

When I'm actioning the TB, The led switch on, but the audio doesn't dim and the mic doesn't engage…

Any help will be really appreciated  :D

Hmmm.... Check optocouplers polarity; maybe one or both led's reversed.
Curious. Why not power it on from +/-15V, if used standalone and there is no another reason for use 12->+/-15V converter?

Check the mic powering related resistors and capacitor.
If your mic works with Skype at computer, it should work in TB combiner too.

Yep, optocoupler polarity ;D

I'm using 12v, because I'm using your board in a DIY relay based Monitor controller working @5v
So I'm using a toroid transformer with 2x 12VAC and 2 regulator boards : one for the 12V of the TB combiner, and an other @5v for my relay board.
With 12vAC, my LM7805 becoming really hot so 15V wasn't the way to go

The Mic level is just OK without any attenuation, any tips to get more gain in case of a deaf singer?

Thanks

pieca: why not use "digital" power supply for relays?

12V for talkback combiner: you mean, +/-12V, or...you feed 12V to dc/dc converter than get +/-15V?

Just my curiosity.

Mic gain: if mic works with Skype good, should be enough.
Or, just take the playback down. As well, there is a trimpot to set the talkback mic gain.

Late to the party, but I too am starting to track parts for this Talkback Combiner. Allied has the coveted Optocoupler if anyone is still hunting: http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=70136790

Hi Igor, I noticed the populated board shown in the first post actually used a TL074CN (instead of the listed TL074P) in the IC2 position. Could IC1 (TL071) work with a TL071CN?

Thanks!

Hello anybody,
This may be a silly question but... I'm powering my TB card with the 12v hookups. I do also have the 15+/15- convertor installed. Since It's receiving power via the 12v, can I now simultaneously use the +15/-15 pins on this TB board to power a pair of VU meters in my CRM? Or will that overload or short something out? I believe ethose pins are for the card to receive power, but since it's getting it on the other input (12v) the convertor seems to work both ways.

I know Igor doesn't reply much lately so if anyone knows the answer to this question, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks

Depends from power comsuption of your vu's , but with dc/dc chip capqbility of +\-33ma  it looks close to imposible to drive any serious dual multiled vu + combiner.

Thanks very much for the response! Wish I had not tried it. Now I think i blew up the dc-dc converter. When the TB board is attached to the CRM board, the relays relentlessly clicks while the control panels input1 button led flashes with the clicking pulse.

Just to clarify (for dumb me) this TB board runs on +15/-15v, correct? Off to order a new dc-dc onvertor  :'(

Did you tried TB withouth the rest of the boards. Try to disconnect other boards using 12v and measure the voltages. Yes, it's possible that you burned Dc/dc and now it's bleeds too much current from 12v psu. If yes, than you shold consider separate ,more powerfull +\- 15v source (not dcdc) or maybe one more 12v Psu since tb can work with +\-12v withouth a problem .
