Just curious, you mean 'unusual' as in 'not happening often', or as in 'what a waiste of time' ?
 
On the classic, and elusive Altec ring of three circuit, Neve and others use it.
Built a tube version years ago...

Big Ampeg tube amps use hollowstate ring-o-3 for the fancy EQ stage. Some use a 12-pin triple triode.
 
For one: Ampeg VT-40, later versions. 6K11 stage, top middle.

Oh Yeah, that's the shared cathode follower ckt, C202 is the TIPB.

Wow, blast from the past thread that I started 10 years ago.

Never got around to modifying the 1588, had a family instead which is much more fulfilling.

Still use it from time to time, but it's been a while.
