Worth restoring?

Hi Everyone. I found this Motorola 59H 11 in an attic at my neighbors house. It's looking pretty rough. I would like to get it working, but I'm afraid to invest too much time in it and have it not work. Clearly the speaker is a problem. Also I don't have tube tester.

If it were an FM radio (or tuner), maybe - but just to end up with an AM radio, I wouldn't invest the time and likely frustration, personally.

If the casework will clean up - put some modern electronics inside? Would make a great Bluetooth speaker.

True - from the photos it almost looks like enameled metal, rather than plastic/Bakelite.

Thanks for the input. I cleaned the case with car polish and it looks better. I'm sure its either plastic or bakelite. I might end up tinkering with it anyways, once I get the variac in.
