oh totally , just waiting for my order of el-panels takes 3-5 weeks.
im not sure if this is true , but some one bought all 600 T4b's from JBL.
she said there are some available but at the 250$ price .

i was told this when i tried to order some for the
international LA2A folks.
i find it odd that someone dropped 50,000$ for all 600 units.

>..................................

i have to add up the costs , of everything ,

the 2.5oz copper through hole plated circuitboard , cells , case , el panel , cap , and wire.

there are some intense R&d costs that ill need to nibble at

wich is the computerized cell testing program for LabView
wich is still in the works , (thank god i live near Los Alamos Labratory)

this will help match cells / stereo unit cells , etc.

down to the micro ohm.

i know this extreem approach is not necessarily needed ,
but i feel it is very important to do a project like this right .
and am commited to doing it with precision.

on a lighter note , i grabbed two untested cells out of a box of 300
wired them up ,
and you know what , it still sounds and compresses like an la2a.

FYI.

im still in developement , but i should be done in the next few weeks.

national instruments is such a great company , they helped me find the
equipment and the people to help me move through the testing process.
infact im meeting a bunch of programmers tomarrow in albuquerque
thanks to them. :thumb:

Silonex will not respond to the many emails/phone calls
asking them to have a
run of the the NSL 5910 with tighter tollerances ,
or at least nominal tollerances will do.

rather creepy way of doing business.
especially when i was not afraid to drop the cash to do this .
i guess my money isnt good in canada (no offence canadians)

damn!

I'm sold - that looks awesome and I bet its a lot cheaper than the $90 JBL was asking.

someone bought all their remaining stock? Well thats just not fair.

The 5910 is the stock LDR for your Costco motion detectors, thus, the loose tolerances.

The key spec is the on/off slope.
It should be a nice log like curve, like someone sliding down a slide, nice smooth acceleration, no rapid starts or stops, no weird linearties, this is something you have to have an ear for.
Then, after you figure out which ramp sounds best, you have your ref cell.

(in a state of excitement)

cool thanx ,

ive dismantled a few urei and a few unnamed brand ,
and have begun logging the slopes , then
hopefully . once this process is done ,

it can be programmed into Lab view.
whats great is if programming goes well ,
labview will match the hundreds of cells
to their mates.

unfortunatley i still have to place each cell in the
dark little test rig.

but im sure with a cup of coffee i can move through
a pile of them ,

once i go through my reciepts ill find a price for them

as kits or fully assembled.

and will definatly be less then the jbl old and new price.

the equipment is all arriveing this weekend , so it will be fun
to get over this last hump.

should have some answers in the next day or so.

wow......wow.....awesome, thank you so much, i know whats next on my list, STEREO LA2A muahahahahaha, with your pcb's and t4b's of course, thank you again, this is awesome, i love this place more everyday, although my bank account certainly does not, thnaks again, i just cant say that enough

$206 jbl t4 cells... no thanks.

so i guess you just might be my new best friend... im in on 2 of those, like we spoke on the mails.

Dude,

The effort that you are putting in this is praiseworthy. Even Urei didn't pour that much sweat in matching those units for a perfect stereo operation.

I'd be more than happy to provide you with extra data you may need to match them to. As I said in the other thread earlier on, just tell me what sort of data you need and I'll provide them to you by measuring the 6 off original new old stock T4Bs that I have for a classic flavour.

Powers to you.

Regards,

Mach

UA, no doubt.
Not to use in their clones. But to keep us from building ours. They're aware JBL has no plans to do another run of shitty T4s. And they think they can stop us by dropping $50k on the remainders. Protecting their $3k retail price. Ha!

We should be aware that they'll also try to buy up the remaining Silonex / Clarinex - or whatever allergy medication company that makes the photoresistors. (Also the EL panels...)

Greg, I bow to your godlike stature.

i'm absolutly with your job Greg, and with the great work of CJ, so be carefull about UA, a copy cat company, with just greater means to keep their business... they do only like us, for this project, some wires, some components, and follow the schemo...

that is some nice work.
maybe if it isn't that expensive i also will have one (have to check on budget first...).
