GSSL, G9, Pultec (SRPP),

Shea,

For implementing a tube stage in the GSSL, I'd definitely recommend to build them as two separate units, one GSSL as-is, and one separate GPultec amplifier board. Not only much easier in terms of power supply, but also much more versatile in the long run (the amplifier could e.g. be used as a linedriver or even a low-gain micpre given the right input transformer)

For using the GPultec stage as current-to-voltage conversion for VCA output, you could experiment with using feedback (e.g. 15K Ohm) from SRPP's output to input (outside DC-blocking capacitors), and pouring in the current from the VCA through another 15K resistor (omitting the output opamps in the GSSL). I'm not entirely sure how it would turn out specs-wise, but it should work someway or another.

Thank you for the very fast reply! Thats why i love this forum.
I have already purchased a 6n2 simple srpp kit to build up to get used to tubes.
Can this be used in the way you mentioned in vca output?
Im very new to this and this is my first build so i apologise for my novice questions but im addicted completely.

if this is your first build, then build GSSL first,
then build SRPP, separately... then think about combining them
read all available info at gyraf, information there is very valuable.

Right!
Ive built the sb4000....its amazing
Ive got a 6n2p valve srpp and tranny ready to put in the input between xlr and compressor circuit....
Ive got a dual gang pot to adjust the volume of the srpp/drive into compressor.
Had some excellent advice on how to connect it
(wiper to pin 2 on tube, right leg to ground etc)
But i want it switchable in and out......

Talk to me!!  :D ??? ;D

You need a bypass switch.  A switch that diverts your signal through the line stage or around it.  This is easy.  If you've built an SB4000 you can figure it out.  Tons of the compressors and eqs here have a bypass circuit, study them and see if you can figure it out...

Good luck,
Ruairi

http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=29770.0 igor`s bypass works really well and easy to hookup in gssl
