Yep , I remember when i had a pair in my Boboskafunken GregTech
[ homebrew modeled after the Manley i posted pix before ]

But like all hard times gotta sell the stuff that's worth anything ,

so better to have the inputs than outs if you have a choice i think

regards Greg

Yes, does shielding really make the unit quieter and less suseptive to stray noises, is it audible in program material or brief moments of sibilance between program material. noise floor when gain is high ?

People say these are noisey units to begin with when compared to solid state , what role does the shielding play when choosing original transformers with alternatives ?

The pultec original have Mu-Metal on input and interstage , how much Mu-Metal is needed or not needed ?

When building the Pultec its nice to have the 56 or 66 in hand but the alternatives are interesting too. Sowter, Tamura, Cinemag Jensen etc, etc

How about a UTC A20 or A22 as a HS-56 input alternative , I'm sure there many others as well. Has anyone tried these two with good results ?

Pultec EQP-1A
Input- HS-56 Subs
WSM 600/600
Cinemag CMLI 4x150D

Interstage HS-29 Subs
WSM 150/600 (1:2)

Output - Peerless 217-D Subs
No sub here due to multiple output windings.
but basicallly the out put is a 15K/600

Inductor Subs
Cinemag CML150-T inductor
wound on a pot core

can someone post the turns ratio of the originals by inputing
1V DC and measuring the output volts to determine the turns ratio.
also what are the DCR's of the originals ?

Yeah, and those A20's are still relatively cheap.
