Hi Martin, sent you an email about some extra board...
it's a good thing since I don't need mic preamp but I really do need some Neve flavor!!  ;)

The thing I'm not sure about is how many people will want a rack mounted mic/line amp VS having a standalone mic pre and a standalone line stage for coloration and rounding after D/A. I'm personally in the latter camp.

Hi Martin,

im planning on using my dual ez1290 with one of these for mix bus action.

http://www.kmraudio.com/catalogue/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/58/products_id/1788?osCsid=c815d73385bc07fcfc5e72130fcd5c68

This should be fine, right?

Cheers!

So is this the EZ1290 with different transformer on the input and different resistors for gain settings?
Or is there something else that is different?
???

correct. different gain switch too - a 1X12 instead of a 3X12.

excuse me if it's been answered already but
how much gain ? would this work as a make up gain stage
for passive eq or other apps ?

Get this onto a 51x Rack format
I would buy a few that way!

I think this would be a great product for that format.

Think so ! ;D

Agreed, but will it blend? That is the question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLxq90xmYUs

Sorry, it's 4pm on friday. :)

Greg, it would work really well for line-gain makeup. Max gain is 20 dB.

Wow. Cool. These look like they'd be easy enough to build. Any schematics?

It did strike me that this kind of pad would be easy to build..... but only after I paid £150 for it!!

I dont have any schematic im afraid.

maybe it's what you need?

I just bought some line in from madriaanse.
I expect something like 250/300€ all inclued for 2 channel.
mostly the transformers cost...the others stuffs are pretty cheap.
I think it's a good bargain to get neve sound with no use of a mic pre.
most electronic musician like me with an home studio need to "warm up" their sound...I think it's the way to go.

150£ for some resistors, 4 XLRs and not even a switch?
Sorry for you..
Sometimes the sellers go beyond common sense.

Yeah, I dont know whats on the inside, but I certainly dont think its £150 worth of bits.

I got that before I got into DIY, so I didnt know what goes into these things.

Now Im pretty much addicted and want to build everything I can!

Chalk it down to experience huh!

Cheers

Yes, it's time to build an old style Neve-ish summing mixer now  ;D

Congrats Martin. You've done it again.

I saw that Owel selling them but since is in US...shipping is 24$, so buy 2 for the price of 3. :p
nothing @ Farnell or Banzai/Musikding or Audiomaintenance.

can I swap them for lorlins (or others)?

other question.
the fader seems to be a 10k, I wish use a pot instead. Lin or Log?

cheers.
