I started a new post to address North American parts suppliers specifically. My goal is to come up with a complete list of parts for the SSL Compressor for those of us in North America. Like Kev's page, I would like to get a page up (maybe with the help of hairyandy if he's interested) that has the supplier and part number for all of the pieces needed to make the kit...with the exception of the VCA perhaps, unless we come up with a stable resource for these. That way, we can point a link from the Meta there, and we'll answer a lot of these questions before they even happen.
The problem I'm having with Kev's list is that Jaycar seems to list the parts differently than DigiKey or Mouser. Both DigiKey and Mouser seem to list them with more specs. I'm relatively new to this stuff, so more specs makes me nervous...and I don't want to get stuck with the wrong parts.
Here's where I'm stuck:
Semiconductors:
I can't seem to find just a plain NE5532 on Mouser or Digikey. Anyone have any recommendations here? This is my first time ordering op-amps, so it's a sea out there. I see tons of ne5532 designations, but all are followed by a letter, such as D or something. I guess I'm having the same problem with the TL072, TL074, and NE5534-AN as well. I'm not understanding all of the suffixes after the main number (like TL072ID). What does the ID mean?
The Rectifier:
Next, for the W04 Rectifier, will this part work:
http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=displayproduct&lstdispproductid=237465&e_categoryid=236&e_pcodeid=62504
Regulators:
Can anyone steer me in the right direction here? I was on Digikey, and it looks like there's several possible candidates for the job, so that scares me. Does anyone have their parts lists available that ordered in the states? I promise when I'm done, I'll put a website for this, and include part numbers and everything in return for the favors, so in the future we can direct people to that site for help with the parts...
Oh, and if I'm using the wrong terminology, please correct me. Electronics is still a very distant second language to English for me...
Thank you!
